Job Summary

Job Purpose: The Education Associate at Islamic Relief, under the supervision of the Education Officer, plays a key role in supporting and implementing educational programs. Responsibilities include assisting in program development, coordinating activities, and ensuring effective delivery of education initiatives in line with organizational objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifying Education Gaps:
    • Collaborate with the project officer to identify existing gaps in education.
  • Project Implementation:
    • Execute day-to-day activities of the projects.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Regularly monitor rehabilitation work in schools to ensure delivery of qualitative services.
  • Training and Event Organization:
    • Organize training events and sessions according to the project plan.
  • Work Planning and Budget Control:
    • Assist in work planning, budget control, financial management, and reporting with the project officer.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Maintain relationships with project partners and stakeholders.
  • Communication:
    • Facilitate internal and external communication of the project.
  • Coordination and Liaison:
    • Support coordination, work planning, reporting, partner liaison, networking, and communication.
  • Needs Assessment:
    • Assist in conducting needs assessments within the education sector.
  • Relationship Building:
    • Maintain ongoing relations with education sector actors.
  • Additional Tasks:
    • Perform any additional tasks assigned by the project officer and UIYV management.
  • Assessment and Analysis:
    • Undertake assessments and analysis on education within Idleb governorate.
  • School Selection:
    • Coordinate with the DOE on the identification and selection of target schools and locations.
  • Project Planning:
    • Assist in developing annual, quarterly, and monthly project Plan of Actions.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Establish good working relationships with school managements to ensure project implementation.
  • Reporting:
    • Assist the project officer in preparing monthly reports.
  • Knowledge Documentation:
    • Document best practices and lessons learned from project activities.
  • Problem Identification:
    • Identify operational/technical and management problems and report to the line manager.
  • Quality Standards:
    • Ensure adherence to technical standards of quality and accountability.
  • Reporting Compliance:
    • Ensure submission of weekly reports.
  • Record Keeping:
    • Maintain a systematic filing system for safekeeping of distribution and records.

Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Education: University Degree in Education, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in education program implementation in INGOs.
  • Skills:
    • Strong coordination skills.
    • Ability to manage time effectively.
    • Passion and commitment for changing lives.
    • Creativity and innovation.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Familiarity with Humanitarian Principles.
  • Language: Good in English & fluent in Arabic (written and spoken).
  • IT Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
