About Qatar Red Crescent:

Qatar Red Crescent is a voluntary charitable organization, founded in March 1978. Recognized internationally in 1981 by the ICRC in Geneva, it joined the IFRC in the same year.

Scope of Work:

The Projects Officer plays a vital role at QRCS, contributing significantly to the planning, execution, and management of projects within humanitarian or development frameworks. This pivotal position entails providing technical expertise, support, and guidance to vulnerable populations, aiming to enhance their access to secure and sustainable solutions, livelihood opportunities, and economic recovery. Close collaboration with communities, local authorities, partner organizations, and various stakeholders is integral to ensuring the successful implementation of projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Strategic:

  • Supporting in preparing proposals and reports to donors.
  • Attendance and participation in cluster and TWG meetings.
  • Ensuring commitment to QRCS principles and mentality.
  • Confirming team members’ commitment to QRCS principles and mentality.
  • Developing scientific, technical, and social self-capacity.
  • Sharing knowledge and experience with the community and colleagues.

Operational:

  • Overseeing the preparation of technical specifications for equipment and materials.
  • Monitoring project activities implementation.
  • Developing and executing comprehensive weekly and monthly plans for project activities.
  • Managing project staff, overseeing day-to-day operations, work plans, and training programs.
  • Facilitating regular meetings with the project team for information sharing.
  • Validating the selection criteria mechanism for beneficiaries.
  • Verifying the quality of project materials.
  • Coordinating with the logistics team for timely material delivery.
  • Collaborating with the Media team for project communication and outreach.
  • Providing progress reports to the Programme Coordinator.
  • Updating project indicators and progress periodically.
  • Offering proactive suggestions for ongoing project development.
  • Demonstrating positive engagement with beneficiaries.
  • Compiling comprehensive periodical reports.
  • Providing regular updates on progress and challenges to supervisors and team members.
  • Ensuring integration of persons with disabilities (PWDs) across all project aspects.
  • Participating in creating draft project proposals upon request.

Education and Experience:

  • BSc in Civil / Agriculture engineering, or related field. MSc degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in FSL and ER projects and Programmes (3-5 years), preferably within the NGO sector.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Familiarity with the Syrian context and related cross-border support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Computer skills & MS office proficiency.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in the field.
  • Knowledge of participatory approaches and community engagement techniques.
  • Fluent Arabic speaker with proficiency in English, Turkish language skills are a plus.
