JOB DESCRIPTION: Programme Support Officer for Latin America and the Caribbean

Position Details

  • Reports to: LAC Desk Officer

Role Overview

The Programme Support Officer (PSO) will be a crucial part of GOAL Global’s support structure for its country-funded programs in the U.S. and LAC Region. Working within the Operations Team at GOAL’s regional offices in Honduras or Colombia, the PSO will handle a diverse range of tasks related to grant management, country support, and overall operations.

Responsibilities

Grant Management

  • Provide administrative support to the Operations Team in managing GOAL’s grant portfolio during peak periods.
  • Assist country programs in preparing and ensuring the quality of reports and proposals.
  • Develop knowledge of key donor agencies and their funding mechanisms, guidelines, and portals.
  • Assist in formal written communication with donors and follow-up activities.

Country Team and Operations

  • Organize and document Operations Team meetings and other program review committee meetings.
  • Support the consolidation and revision of annual country plans.
  • Assist in preparing management information for GOAL Board Meetings.
  • Work with communications teams to develop high-quality case studies and media inputs.

Information Management

  • Support the maintenance and updating of the Grants Management System (GMS).
  • Assist in managing key departmental systems, including SharePoint and other relevant platforms.

Other Responsibilities

  • Undertake various tasks as assigned by the Operations Team leadership.
  • Provide support to the Director of Strategies on specific projects.
  • Translate documents as needed in Spanish, English, and French.
  • Assist in language interpretation and translation during meetings as required.

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or relevant field.
  • Minimum one year of NGO experience, preferably in international programs or headquarters roles.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a sense of mission aligned with GOAL’s objectives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish; proficiency in French (written and oral).

Desirable Criteria

  • Master’s degree in relevant subject.
  • Experience in donor relationship management and grant writing, especially with major institutional donors.
  • Familiarity with donor priorities and guidelines for grant implementation and monitoring.
  • Knowledge or experience in GOAL’s program or thematic sectors.

Safeguarding

  • Comply with GOAL’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Report any concerns about the well-being of program participants or irregularities within programming.
  • Report any concerns about inappropriate behavior by GOAL employees or partners.
