Project Description

  • Project Name: BRIDGES (Building Reconciliation and Peace through Inclusive Dialogue, Gender Equality, Sport and Protection of Cultural Heritage)
  • Funding: European Union
  • Implementation Area: Mudug, Nugaal, Sool regions (Puntland and Galmudug States), Somalia
  • Objective: Promote peace, reconciliation, freedom of expression, human rights, and inclusion, led by Somali civic society actors, with a focus on women and youth.

Job Responsibilities

Book-keeping, Finance, and Budgeting

  • Manage day-to-day cash management, transaction recording, and accounting for the BRIDGES project.
  • Prepare financial reporting and monthly funds requisitions.
  • Maintain proper filing systems and ensure compliance with financial procedures.

Human Resources Management, Legal Compliance

  • Maintain project staff files and prepare payrolls and statutory deductions.
  • Ensure timely payment of taxes and compliance with local regulations.

Purchasing and Logistics

  • Verify payments to suppliers and support procurement procedures.
  • Manage inventory and assets for the project.

Management Control

  • Follow up with project partners for document submission and compile financial reports.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in humanitarian projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
  • Good knowledge of English, Somali, and the Somali context, particularly in Garowe, Puntland.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with the European Union as a donor (advantageous).
  • Experience in the logistics sector (advantageous).
