Position: Advocacy, Campaigns, Communications, and Media Director

  • Location: Sanaa (flexibility possible)
  • Contract Length: Fixed Term – Two years (with possibility of extension)

Role Purpose:

  • Member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) in the CO
  • Responsible for leadership in advocacy, campaigning, media, and communications
  • Directs internal and external advocacy efforts for children’s rights in Yemen

Scope of Role:

  • Reports to: Yemen Country Director
  • Dimensions: Over 700 staff, works in nine governorates, critical role in ensuring humanitarian access and visibility

Key Areas of Accountability:

  1. Leadership and Organizational Culture:
    • Promotes accountability, high performance, and innovation
    • Designs and implements organizational structure consistent with agency practices
  2. Advocacy Strategy Development:
    • Develops and implements advocacy strategies aligned with programmatic priorities
    • Liaises with key stakeholders for up-to-date information on the humanitarian situation
  3. Situation and Advocacy Analysis:
    • Provides analysis of crisis impact on children and policy responses
    • Defines advocacy opportunities and mobilizes support
  4. ACCM Products:
    • Produces evidence-based advocacy materials for various levels
    • Ensures high quality and effective advocacy products
  5. Representation and Coordination:
    • Advocates towards key stakeholders and represents SCI in public fora
    • Coordinates advocacy messages and activities internally and externally
  6. Media and Communications:
    • Implements communication and media strategy
    • Develops SCI’s profile regionally and globally through high-quality products
  7. Staff Management and Development:
    • Manages Advocacy, Media, Communications, and Policy teams
    • Provides leadership, support, and training for staff development

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential:
    • Post-graduate degree or equivalent experience
    • 8+ years of senior management experience
    • Experience in humanitarian or development environments, preferably in the Middle East
    • Demonstrated advocacy and media skills
    • Fluency in English, cultural awareness, and strong communication skills
  • Preferred:
    • Extensive knowledge of child rights and international humanitarian law
    • Experience in managing multicultural teams and leading change initiatives
    • Fluency in Arabic is desirable
